Picture of the covers of three books by Max Adams. The titles are Museum of the Wood Age, The Wisdom of Trees and Trees of Life.

Saturday April 26, join historian and author Max Adams during the week of Earth Day for a talk about history, humans and trees.

Trees and woods are the planet's lungs; they are also life-giving habitats for half of the world's species. They are a source of food, fuel, shelter, medicine and materials, which human cultures have traditionally relied on for their survival.

For Max Adams, almost all of human history belongs to a Wood Age, when trees supplied most of the technology and materials that allowed us to create, explore, colonise and utilise the earth's resources. In this talk Max explores the relationship between trees, wood and the great cultural adventure of humanity, richly illustrated with beautiful images drawn from three of his books.
