Starting or joining a group

Our friends at the Reading Agency maintain a database of the reading groups in the UK. If you would like to start your own reading group download the Reading Agency's How to Start a Reading Group resource pack for tips on how to get started.

To find a reading group that’s accepting new members and express an interest in joining, visit Finding a Group at Readinggroups.org.

If you're interested in joining a reading group that meets regularly in a Newcastle Libraries branch email readinggroups@newcastle.gov.uk and let us know!

Reading Group Stock

Borrowing books

Newcastle Libraries has more than 230 titles available for reading groups to borrow. To browse the full collection, please see our updated Reading Group stock list on Newcastle Libraries' online catalogue.

If you would like to request a book for your reading group, please use the form.

Some titles might already be on loan, so it's best to choose two or three titles. Your reading group leader will receive an email when books are ready to be collected from your chosen pick-up library. Books may be collected by the group leader or by individual group members. If your members are collecting their books at City Library, visit the information pods on level 3 and ask a member of staff.

We offer e-books and e-audiobooks to anyone who prefers to use a digital device. Please email readinggroups@newcastle.gov.uk with any requests.

As soon as you’re finished with your book, return it to any Newcastle libraries branch. Easy!
