Based on haruki murakami's emotive tale of solitude and obssession. Tony takitani seems to find emotions illogical and immature until he meets and becomes fascinated by eiko, a beautiful young woman who, in turn, is fascinated by high end fashion. When they marry, tony feels vibrantly alive and begins to understand loneliness. But eiko's obssession with designer clothes begins to worry tony, and when he asks her to economize, the consequences are tragic.
